Strange Brew
There are a lot of Canadian stereotypes in Strange Brew. They are almost always directed on Bob and Doug Mckenzie. They are always drinking beer, always wearing toques, always say eh and hoser/hosehead, and always wear flannel. The rest of the people in the movie (excluding their parents) are fairly normal, aren't alcoholics, wear normal clothes, and talk normally. Beer is fairly popular in Canada so I will let it slide. The toques also possibly could be acceptable because they were wearing winter jackets at the time too so it could be cold. That also brings up another stereotype of Canada ALWAYS being cold, but once again, that is true 7 months out of the year. Some Canadians do say eh, but not nearly to the extent that Bob and Doug do. The only person I have ever heard say hoser or hosehead on a regular basis would be Mr. Nickell. I have never seen a person wear flannel. Another stereotype is that everyone either loves or plays hockey. This might be true for a lot of Canadians but not to the extent they show. On the whole, while this movie does show stereotypes they are basically true but not to the extent that they show. Oh, and our dogs can't fly.
