As Canadians we have many stereotypes that come with our way of life. Some of these stereotypes include always wearing flannel shirts and toques. We say "eh" in almost every sentence and are almost always polite and respectful. Multiculturalism is a word that usually is connected with our country. As Canadians we have a great love for hockey which leads people to believe that we wear hockey jerseys all the time. People also have this image of us as always having a beer in our hand which is a little bit of an exageration.
Americans have also been targetted with stereotypes which seem to be completely opposite of Canadians. It is thought that Americans are stupid and have a strong love for money. They tend to be violent and have an easy access to weapons. Americans tend to be led by their government who is also stereotyped to be stupid and are always wanting to start a war.
I think that, yes, the majority of Canadian stereotypes are very accurate. It is true that we wear flannel shirts and toques when its cold but we don't wear them all the time. "Eh" is quite often found in our vocabulary and yes we go out of our way to help others out. Canada is known as a mosiac which means we welcome all cultures and everything their culture includes. Yes hockey is our main sport and somedays you will find people wearing jerseys. Beer is most definately the drink of choice but most Canadians are not alcoholics. I don't believe that Americans are stupid but it is true that they are quite obsessed with money. Some Americans show violence but there are lots of very kind people. American people do always want to be fighting in war and do whatever their government says.
