Partenered Poetry Analysis

1a) I don’t really see how the first poem is supposed to represent a vast and varied land, but it is definitely the best of the poems.

1b) This poem does seem vast indeed. However, it seems to be almost entirely composed of trees with little variety at all except occasional small comments on the sky.

1c) This poem is rather morbid, it’s all about one thing: killing and maiming animals. Then at the end she uses this as an analogy to dog-eat-dog city life.

2a) Yeah, the author is obviously a big-time tree hugger, it seems his entire life revolves around the Canadian lands.

2b) The poet who wrote the second poem is extremely obsessed with trees. He also has respect for the weather. His love for the land seems to be almost a story of romance.

2c) I can’t decide whether the author of this poem is compassionate or heartless. At first she seems to feel love and care for the animals, but then it seems that the childhood experiences toughened and hardened her towards the needs of those who are weaker.

3a)This land is my tongue my eyes my mouth

3b) This smoky cry curled over a black pine like a broken and wind-battered branch

3c) The guilty blood

4a) A platform for my dance

4b) This is the beauty of strength

4c) Things are functional, or die.

5a) Beautiful lands.

5b) Trees and grandly majestic landscape.

5c) Pain and suffering and perseverance
