During the Reading
1. I am, or I’m and a.
2. I’m made of multitudes.
I have many parts and am not just a single culture.
I am varied and unique.
I’m the people that make this place great.
I’m great ideas, great talents, and great stories.
I’m the land, the sky, and the water.
I’m good times, I’m bad times.
I’m the East, the West, the North, and the South.
I’m hot and I’m cold,
I’m yes, and I’m no.
I’m in and I’m out.
I’m up and I’m down.
I am Canadian and proud to be free.
3. Canada is made up of the land and the people who live on it. Without the people Canada wouldn’t exist and would be barren. Without the land the people would have no-where to live. Canada is also the ideas of the people. It is how they live their lives that make Canada the way that it is.

5. Connection to Self
This poem shows how Canada is a multicultural society that isn’t just a single culture but a series of subcultures. This relates to our unit because it shows what it is like to be a Canadian. This relates to the course because it shows examples of Canadian Literature. I do like this poem due to its repetition.
Connection to Text
This is similar to Katy Perry's song Hot and Cold. The subject has absolutely nothing to do to with each other but the format is similar. I make the connection because the lyrics go You're hot then you're cold / You're yes then you're no / You're in then you're out / You're up then you're down.
Connection to World
The main message that this poem is trying to get across is that Canada is a multicultural mosaic made up of people. The unique cultural and personal traits that each person brings to Canada is what makes it so great. It also showcases the traits that make each individual region so great and what part it brings to Canada as a whole.
